Kathryn Garipay is involved in all aspects of copyright and trademark practice, including prosecution, litigation and licensing.

Her trademark experience includes opinions on trademark availability, preparation of trademark applications and prosecution of those applications before the Patent and Trademark Office. She has been involved in trademark infringement actions, both before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, and in the federal courts. Kathryn Garipay also handles trademark matters in foreign countries, including prosecuting trademark applications and opposition proceedings.

Her legal work has included representing clients in litigation involving patents, copyrights, trademarks and trade secrets. She has represented clients in both the prosecution and defense of patent infringement claims. Kathryn Garipay also has experience in negotiating licenses and agreements, as well as commercial litigation, including product liability actions.  Kathryn also advises clients on matters of FDA labeling, advertising review, and proprietary drug name clearance.

Kathryn Garipay has a B.A. degree cum laude in psychology from the University of New Hampshire. She earned her J.D. degree magna cum laude from the University of Puget Sound School of Law. While in law school, Kathryn Garipay interned with Washington State Supreme Court Justice Robert Utter. She is admitted to practice in Illinois as well as before the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

Her professional memberships include the Illinois State Bar Association, Chicago Bar Association, and International Trademark Association.
