Matt Kellam is involved in various aspects of intellectual property practice pertaining to patents, trade secrets and unfair competition. His experience includes the preparation and prosecution of patent applications involving various mechanical, medical and chemical technologies and providing opinions and counseling to clients regarding licensing, infringement and validity issues.
Matt has extensive patent litigation experience, representing both plaintiffs and defendants in cases involving a wide range of technologies, including pharmaceutical formulation, semiconductor manufacturing, digital video, medical devices, consumer products, and computer software. He has represented clients in multiple jurisdictions at the trial and appellate court level, including a federal district court trial in which patent protection was successfully upheld for a drug with sales of more than a billion dollars per year.
Academically, Matt Kellam obtained his J.D. degree, magna cum laude, from Indiana University School of Law - Bloomington, where he was managing editor for the Indiana Law Journal and a member of the Order of the Coif, and has a B.S. degree in Biochemistry from the University of Notre Dame.
Matt Kellam is admitted to practice in Illinois, the United States District Court of the Eastern District of Texas, the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
His professional memberships include the Intellectual Property Law Association of Chicago and the Chicago Bar Association.
