Seymour Rothstein has been involved in enforcing and defending patents in a wide range of mechanical and electrical arts and in litigating a variety of trademark issues including trade dress and trademark infringement. He has served as trial and appellate counsel in diverse areas of technology. Seymour has successfully advised and counseled clients in patent and trademark procurement and licensing, and has been instrumental in developing patent and trademark portfolios, both domestically and internationally.

His success is based on the combination of his practical experience as a former Patent Examiner in the United States Patent & Trademark Office, Patent Attorney with Carrier Corporation, and more than 35 years experience in private practice.

Seymour Rothstein earned a Mechanical Engineering degree from Case Western Reserve University and a law degree from George Washington University Law School. He is admitted to practice before numerous courts including Illinois, the Supreme Court of Illinois, the Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, and the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Also, he is a member of the trial bar of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Seymour Rothstein has authored and lectured in the areas of patent law and trademark law and has been an expert witness in several cases. He has been active with professional groups including the Intellectual Property Association of Chicago, the Chicago Bar Association and the International Trademark Association. Seymour is a past President of the Intellectual Property Association of Chicago. Additionally, he has chaired the Regulatory Agencies Committee of the International Trademark Association and was a founder of the Abraham Lincoln Marovitz Inn of Court in Chicago.
