Tali Cepuritis' intellectual property experience spans more than forty years. He has been in private practice since 1969, representing domestic as well as foreign clients. Before that time, he served as patent counsel for a major domestic pharmaceutical company and a multi-national chemical manufacturer. Prior to becoming a patent lawyer, he was a practicing chemical engineer.
While in private practice, Tali Cepuritis has handled all phases of patent solicitation, including appeals and interferences, patent litigation, domestic as well as international licensing matters in diverse chemical, pharmaceutical, biotechnological and mechanical fields, and due diligence investigations. Representative fields of involvement are pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, polymers, organic syntheses, electrochemistry, petroleum refining and recovery, catalysis, food processing, agricultural chemicals, surgical instruments, medical equipment, diagnostics, polypeptides, genetic engineering, transgenic plants, industrial absorbent systems, robotics, machine tools, conveyor systems, kilns, plastics processing machinery, high-speed assembly machines, laser devices, electrotreating systems and the like.
Tali Cepuritis' academic training includes a J.D. degree from New York University, and B.S.E. and M.S.E. degrees in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan. His language skills include German and Latvian, as well as some knowledge of Russian and Japanese.
Tali Cepuritis is admitted to practice in Illinois, Michigan, New York and the District of Columbia, as well as before the United States Supreme Court and the Courts of Appeal of the Federal, D.C., 3rd, 6th and 7th Circuits, and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He is also a member of the Trial Bar of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
His professional memberships include the American Bar Association, Federal Bar Association, Chicago Bar Association, and the Intellectual Property Law Association of Chicago.
